Walk in the Woods Timetable – do join us! Look out for the Dojo message from your child’s teacher. There will also be tea, coffee and scones in the Community Room with donations to MacMillan Cancer Relief so do come and join us before or after your walk.

Walk in the Woods is a traditional event at Smithton so if this is your first year please know that you are very welcome to join your child’s class for the walk or a part of it. The path in Culloden Woods is buggy friendly but we ask you not to bring your dogs or any other pets. We will have light refreshments in the community room just as you come into the school, if you haven’t been before so do come before or afterwards and, if you can, give a donation to MacMillan Cancer relief.

Looks like we will have an autumn discos run by the Parent Council on Tuesday 25th October – date for your diary!

Looking forward to seeing P4-7 parents Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and nursery ‘Stay and Play’ sessions all next week during the day. P1-3 parents are coming in to see their child’s progress during the year and it was good to have P1, 2 parents yesterday afternoon to discuss learning through play. If you were able to come last Wednesday, are attending parent/teacher contacts and will have a coffee and scone with us next Friday you’ll be feeling right at home here!

Next Thursday at 6.15pm in the community room there will be a short meeting with David Shaw, our Active Schools Coordinator about volunteering for sports clubs at Smithton Primary. At the recent Parent Council meeting it was suggested that parents were keen for more sports activities at the school and that there were people keen to help out. I look forward to meeting with you there. There will be training and support for any who are willing to commit their time.

Safe, Strong and Free

This is an early years programme that is for children in ELC about to go into Primary 1. It’s an excellent programme and if you haven’t seen it before I thoroughly recommend attending the parent sessions.

There are a few dates in the diary where we will be hosting an online session which we would encourage any parents, carers and nursery/primary staff to join, should you wish to find out more about the workshops we are delivering across the Highlands.

The next few dates we have are:

Monday 3 Oct @ 7pm

Mon 24 Oct @ 10am

Tue 1 Nov @ 1pm

In order to receive the Team link to join any of these sessions, please drop Kath an email or contact either number below.

Kindest regards

Kath Kernaghan

The following photos show the variety of our week this week – assembly fun facts led my the young people, book choices, P1,2 parents learning through play, star award winners, harvest thanksgiving sessions at Smithton church and Funky Friday fun and games on a Friday night for P7 and S1 in the school.

Have a good weekend and enjoy the next season as it is fast approaching!
