Please remember that the road along Smithton Park entrance to the school is going to have road works starting on Monday. Please consider as a family how else you can get to school safely.
As an incentive, we’ve signed up to The Big Pedal!
Get set… we’re taking part in Sustrans Big Pedal 2019, the UK’s largest inter-school cycling, walking and scooting challenge. The challenge runs from 25 March to 5 April. We would love as many of us as possible from Smithton Primary to be involved.
On each day of the challenge, schools compete to see who can record the greatest number of pupils, staff and parents who either cycle, walk or scoot to school. By taking part, our school may be entered a draw to win some great prizes!
The Big Pedal 2019 is a great way to get more of our pupils travelling actively to school and is a simple way to boost their physical and mental health. It is also a good chance for us to help our pupils to understand the importance of environmentally-friendly travel.
All you need to do is encourage your child(ren) to cycle, walk or scoot to school on as many days as possible during the next two weeks, and if you can, join them on their way.
Please remind your children about bicycle safety, including the use of a helmet. It may also be a good idea for pupils to bring a bike lock to school with them.
Let’s get active together!
